12-Volt Portable Solar Panels

There are a number of popular portable solar panels in the market these days and one of the hottest are the 12 vole portable solar panels. Although they are not enough to heat your whole house, they can surely give power to your portable gadgets or recharge your batteries.

The 12 vole portable solar panels work like your usual solar panels. They only produce less electricity because they are smaller. They are great under the high sun although can also work in cloudy days.

When you are looking for a good portable solar panel system, you must consider whether it has a built-in regulator which automatically adjusts the amount of energy it produces to what the device requires. If the solar panel system you are looking at doesn't have this feature, you may overcharge (or "fry") the device.

Many portable solar panels can fold into small sizes and fit into a large purse. However, you can't fold the cells themselves. They are only small enough so you can put them in a bag of some sort for easier mobility. Remember, it is important that you handle them carefully. Although these portable energy systems are advertised to be waterproof and heavy-duty, they still need extra care. Folding or creasing the solar cell itself will probably break or disable the system. So, never ever commit the mistake if you don't want to kiss your investment goodbye too soon. You shall also watch the kids and tell them not to even think of placing the portable solar panels in the washing machine, or poking them with sharp objects because doing so will destroy them.

Another important thing you should bear in mind is that 12 vole portable solar panels
and other portable solar panels can not recharge regular batteries. They can only do rechargeable ones. Sure, this may sound too obvious. Why would you recharge the non-rechargeable, right? Well, you might be surprised at how many people actually do this—for whatever reason.

Using portable panels will require you to use additional connector equipment. This means that you have to include it in the budget even before you purchase the system. The connectors you will need are the ones which fit the plugs on your portable gadgets. Moreover, if you plan to use your solar panel system to charge the battery of your car, boat, or snowmobile (trickle charging), you might need to purchase a set of battery clips.

Trickle charging keeps your automobile's battery fully charged. When you trickle charge, what you do is place your portable solar panel under the heat of the sun and attach the clips to the battery. In cold climates where temperatures are below freezing, this can truly be helpful.

The cost of portable solar panels is still quite expensive compared to using grid electricity. But, if you spend a lot of time outside—hiking, camping, or working from your car, they can surely be well worth their price. In addition, they also make a great backup system in case the power goes out.
