How Are Diamond Band Saw Blades Made?

A diamond band saw is a device used to cut a variety of materials. Until today, it remains to be the choice for machining jobs and diamond-cutting applications. With diamond as its blade, the band saw can cut with precision hard materials such as ceramic, concrete, glass, brick and stones like marble and granite, and of course, diamond.

What is the name of the stuff you can buy at hardware store that you can apply to soft steel to harden it?

Some metalurgist invented it thirty years ago. You put it on the steel and then treat it with a propane torch and it makes the steel really hard.

20 years ago I saw some guys using it to harden snowplow blades.

Does anybody know the name of that stuff? (I can't find it on the internet).

KASENIT is a well known brand of case hardening compound (though there are probably others). Perhaps 20 years ago a hardware store would have carried it, but you'd be lucky to find a local hardware store that carries it now (and if you are lucky enough to find one it won't be a "big box" type store)
