How do I refinish a front door that has raised grain in the plastic panels?
It looks like a light oak finish on real wood but is plastic with leaded glass in the center. Do I lightly use steel wool on the peeling areas and then wipe an oak stain over the surface and then spray the entire door with a clear laquor?
I don't understand the answers that your are getting. You can not stain plastic. You could certainly sand the areas that are peeling and remove all loose material. Then you could apply an epoxy finish of your choice. There is no way to stain plastic. If the door looks like natural wood a good clear coat Will bring the appearance back to life. The color is in the plastic and will not sand off. Good luck
