Any tricks to cutting 2x4's with a jigsaw?

Trying to cut curved details in 2x redwood. Can never get the cuts right, as the blade bends and angles the cut. Tried to get stiffer blades, but didn't find any that worked. Don't know if there's any kind of remedy to this. Set the blade at an angle, but that doesn't ensure precision. Thanks.

A two by four is a bit much for a portable jigsaw but you can help by slowing down the rate at which you feed the saw through the wood. The blade bending sideways is a result of it not being able to cut as fast as you are moving the saw through the curve. As already stated, relief cuts will help or cutting outside the pattern and finishing with a sander will help as well.
