What is a good electric die grinder?
in the past i have always used my air powered die grinder, but i no longer have an air compressor large enough to run it. (at least for now). i will eventually get another one, but for the time being i would like to get an electric die grinder. what is a good make and model? im not looking for a little dremel or anything because i need to do some porting work with it, so i need something pretty powerful. any help would be great. thanks
roto zip is what i use. i have ported and polished cast iron heads with it and no problem. you have to be careful and hold it good and tight because it runs at 30 grand. i took the handle off mine. easier to hold and maneuver. it will cut aluminum like hot butter with a Carborundum bit. cast is a little tougher but a good bit makes it easy. i got my bits from a machine shop supplier, not home depot or Lowe's. cost more but are still good after several head jobs. you need different bits for different metals but you probably know all about that. what i like is the zip is not as noisy and probably is 10 times cheaper to use, plus cutting faster. i use a cone and a ball bit for cast and just a cone for aluminum.
