How can I get my dog to get in the back of my truck?
My golden retriever is absolutely terrified of getting into the back of my truck. I have to spend almost half an hour trying to lift her in there by myself. I don't know what her problem is, my other two goldens absolutely loved going for car rides and would jump in the truck every chance they got. Any idea what I can do to help her overcome this fear? Thanks!
Split up her food and feed her about five times a day in the back of the truck. If she is on dried food, soak this in warm water for a while before you tempt her to jump in and eat this.
Get her interested in chasing a ball and fetching, then throw this into the truck for her to fetch. Do the above for several days, then drive for a very short distance and let her out to play.
She must associate the truck with food and a play session at the end of a very short journey. Eventually she will overcome her fears.
